Set up in 2000, with the help of Pas de Calais Departmental Tourist Board, the Association was extended to the Nord Département in 2003. Its purpose is to make a census of and promote gardens. It is affiliated to the Committee of Parks and Gardens of France and the French National Horticultural Society.
Its aim is to :
publicise and promote the parks and gardens
of Nord-Pas de Calais
help safeguard and maintain the landscape heritage
help establish a tourist network recognised
by the State authorities
enable discussion on the theme of gardens with neighbouring
regions and bordering countries
These gardens are of interest in many areas: botanical, cultural, historical. Passions are expressed in the different styles and characters (Wooded parks, landscaped gardens, contemporary, mediaeval and kitchen gardens). The gardens are located several kilometres apart and can be visited as part of a route, or on cultural and educational discovery days. |
